Richard Parker is a Registered Nurse and former Chief Operating Officer of the Norfolk & Norwich Universal Hospital. He now runs his own business, providing advisory support to NHS and private healthcare providers.
About Richard
I specialised in Intensive Care Nursing, working predominantly in Leicester and London throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including a period teaching both post-registration Intensive Care Nursing and Resuscitation Skills to other healthcare professionals. I completed my Executive MBA in October 2010, and worked at Board level in a number of NHS hospitals, including Croydon and Birmingham, and latterly as Chief Operating Officer at the Norfolk & Norwich from 2015-2019. During the Covid-19 crisis, I have provided pro-bono support and advice to a number of businesses, both locally and further afield, helping them with their response to the pandemic and suggesting ways in which they could help the NHS.
I am a keen rugby fan, and I'm a supporter and sponsor of the North Walsham Viking Rugby Football Club. I have a small boat and several canoes and - time permitting - can often be found paddling on the River Bure.
Priorities for Cromer
- I will work to make sure that health and social care work better together to support our older residents, whether in their own homes or in care.
- I will commit to working with local businesses to ensure the opportunities arising from Brexit are supported by the County Council, and are realised to the fullest extent - especially where they relate to fishing or agriculture.
- I will work closely with the local authority to strike the right balance between tourism and local housing needs.
- I will work with Duncan Baker MP and all stakeholders to find solutions to the problem of ambulance response times, and to support our local hospital here in Cromer.
